What does a prefab sauna in Palembang give you for IDR 15-35 million?

A complete room rather than a kit in cartons: bolted wall panels, an aspen bench, a tempered glass door, a stone heater, controller, light and ventilation grilles, delivered and connected. The cabin measures roughly 1x1 m to 1.5x1.2 m, seats one or two, and reaches working temperature in half an hour. Delivery, connection, a ventilation check and a first heating with you present are all inside the price, so there is no assembly manual to decipher and no missing bracket to chase down.

What you give up is fit. A prefab cabin will not follow an awkward corner, take six people or carry a glazed wall; for any of those the answer is a custom sauna room at IDR 60-120 million. What you gain is speed, a price that does not need a building budget, and the ability to unbolt the whole thing and take it with you.

Getting a prefab sauna into Talang Semut, Bukit Besar and the older streets

This is where prefab work earns its keep in Palembang. Heritage houses around Talang Semut, the streets behind Kambang Iwak and older parts of Bukit Besar are reached down lanes a lorry cannot enter, and their tall shuttered rooms are lovely but awkward to build inside. Panels sized to pass through a standard doorway solve both problems: they come off a small truck at the end of the lane and are carried in by hand.
