Sauna room

Dry sauna in Palembang: a cabin built to your room

A timber room at 70-90 degrees for two to eight people, measured to your walls rather than shipped in a standard box.

A dry sauna Palembang build is a timber room held at 70-90 degrees with 10-20 per cent humidity, for families, athletes and club changing rooms. A 2x2 m cabin for four is an indicative IDR 60-120 million and takes two to four weeks on site. Ranges for every size are on the pricing page.

What does a dry sauna in Palembang have to cope with?

Humidity of 75 to 89 per cent, which is the whole design problem. A cabin lined straight onto brickwork traps the moisture it makes, and within two or three years the smell tells you where it went. Our wall is layered: lining panel, 50 mm rockwool, aluminium foil taped as a continuous vapour barrier, a 20 mm ventilation cavity, then the cladding. Supply and extract vents sit on opposite walls so the room changes its air rather than stewing.

Timber choice follows the same logic. Western red cedar and Scandinavian spruce line the room, thermowood goes in where the budget allows because heat treatment has already taken the movement out of it, and benches are aspen or abachi so nobody sits down onto something scalding. Ulin and bengkirai, both excellent local hardwoods, stay outside on decking where they belong.

Which rooms do Talang Kelapa, Bukit Besar and Jakabaring ask for?

Households in the Talang Kelapa and Alang-Alang Lebar clusters typically give up a spare bedroom and order 2x2 m for four, red cedar, 6 kW. Larger houses around Bukit Besar and Demang Lebar Daun go to six seats at 2.4x2 m with an 8 kW heater, often with a glazed door onto a terrace. Clubs and academies near Jakabaring want eight seats at 3x2.4 m, benches deep enough to lie on, and a floor that can be hosed.

  • 2 people, 1.5x1.2 m, 3.6 kW, pinewood - indicative IDR 55-70 million.
  • 4 people, 2x2 m, 6 kW, red cedar - indicative IDR 75-95 million.
  • 6 people, 2.4x2 m, 8 kW, thermowood - indicative IDR 110-150 million.
  • 8 people, 3x2.4 m, 9 kW - indicative IDR 150-200 million.

Whichever size of dry sauna you choose, the stove is a Harvia heater, a Sawo or a Tylo, and the matching elements and stones stay on our shelf in Ilir Barat I.

How much power does a dry sauna in Palembang need?

More than most houses arrive with. A 3.6 kW heater for two people runs on 5,500 VA; 6 kW for four needs 7,700 VA; 8 to 9 kW wants 11,000 VA; the ten and twelve kilowatt club cabins are three phase. Heritage houses in Talang Semut and older streets in Ilir Timur are often on 2,200 to 4,400 VA, so an application to PLN comes first and the upgrade fee is paid by the owner, though we prepare the load calculation for it.

Our side of the work is the circuit: heat-resistant SiHF cable from the consumer unit, a dedicated breaker, an ELCB, and the run kept out of the insulation. Where a raise in supply is not on the cards, we say so and point you at an infrared cabin at 1.7-2.4 kW instead of selling you a heater the house cannot feed. Running cost for a finished sauna room is an indicative IDR 200,000-500,000 a month at four or five sessions a week.

Frequently asked questions

Will a four-person cabin fit a room of 2.5 by 3 metres?

Comfortably. A 2x2 m cabin leaves room for the door swing and a bench outside it, and the wall behind the heater still gets its ventilation cavity. We confirm the ceiling height at survey, since 2.1 m clear is the practical minimum.

Can the cabin go upstairs in a cluster house?

Usually yes. The finished weight of a four-person room is well within what a residential slab is built for, though we still look at how the joists run and, if needed, spread the heater plinth over a wider footprint.

What does it cost to run each month?

An indicative IDR 200,000-500,000 for four or five sessions a week, each around ninety minutes including heat-up. Maintenance is bench oil once a year and heater stones renewed every two to three years.

How soon can we use it after paying the deposit?

Two to four weeks of installation, plus one to two weeks while the heater and glass travel by road from Jakarta. The date is fixed in the quote, not estimated afterwards. Ask for a survey and we will give you a calendar window.
